Exploring Translation Strategies in Gulzar’s ‘The Speaking Silence’: A Systemic Functional Linguistics Approach

Abstract

This study focuses on translating Sher's romantic poems from the well-known collection "The Speaking Silence" of Gulzar. It also discusses the complexity of translation in the inter-art forms. The researchers used a qualitative approach to investigate just how well the translators were able to preserve the lyric text's subtleties and stylistic complexity in words. This study used the SFL model in reading to examine the translations' communicative and linguistic features. Comparing and contrasting several Sher and their translations, demonstrates how Halliday's SFL model exposes the intricate price use of language and the fashion today's poets concentrate upon. This study sheds light on the complex and intense process of translating poetry, demonstrating a need to respect the culture and language differences between antecedent and recipient languages. Two areas where our discoveries may have far-reaching valley was in perfect and culture preserving the improvement of translation techniques and relationships with people. This study provides a basis for subsequent investigations into the translation of poetry in different cultural and language adjustment situations. In this way, the wider context of translation decisions will be examined and the various interplay among components that occur.
