SAJAHS recognizes the growing role of generative artificial intelligence (AI) tools in academic research and writing. To uphold scholarly integrity, transparency, and ethical publication standards, the journal establishes the following policy governing the use of generative AI in manuscript preparation and submission:

  1. Permitted Use

    • Authors may use generative AI tools for language refinement, grammar correction, and formatting support.

    • AI may be utilized for non-creative tasks such as data visualization, coding assistance, plagiarism checking, and reference organization.

  2. Prohibited Use

    • Generative AI must not be used to produce original research findings, literature review content, arguments, or critical discussion in place of the author’s intellectual contribution.

    • Fabrication, falsification, or automated generation of data, citations, or sources is strictly prohibited.

    • AI-generated text cannot be submitted as original scholarship without author oversight and substantial modification.

  3. Disclosure Requirement

    • Authors must clearly disclose any use of generative AI in their manuscript at submission.

    • Disclosure should specify the tool used and its extent (e.g., “AI language assistance for proofreading”).

  4. Accountability

    • Authors retain full responsibility for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of all content regardless of AI assistance.

    • The journal does not recognize AI tools as co-authors or contributors under any circumstances.

  5. Ethical Compliance

    • AI use must adhere to established research ethics, confidentiality norms, and citation standards.

    • Sensitive or private data must not be uploaded to AI systems without appropriate authorization.

  6. Editorial Verification

    • SAJAHS reserves the right to evaluate suspected AI-generated content using detection tools and peer assessment.

    • Undisclosed or unethical AI use may result in rejection, withdrawal, or retraction depending on severity.

This policy ensures that generative AI supports scholarly productivity without compromising academic originality, authorship, or research credibility. All contributors are expected to comply with this policy from manuscript development to publication.
